Urgent: Pray Against Return of ISIS
President Trump has been a champion of global religious freedom and persecuted Christians.
But his announced withdrawal of U.S. troops from Kurdish-controlled regions of northeastern Syria puts Christians in grave peril and may lead to a resurgence of ISIS.
The U.S.-backed Kurds are loyal allies and were the front-line in defeating ISIS. They control much of the area close to Turkey, which is a final safe haven for persecuted Christians and Yazidis.
The largest towns in the region, Qamishli and Hasakha, are mainly Christian. Pulling U.S. troops out of the region puts Christians’ lives at risk of a resurgent ISIS and of Turkish fighters.
“We have more work to do to keep ISIS from coming back,” a spokesperson for the Kurdish-led forces said. “If America leaves, all will be erased.”
The Kurds currently hold about 12,000 ISIS prisoners. Turkey’s attacks on the Kurds and invasion of the region will force Kurdish guards at the prison camps to rush to the front.
President Obama’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq led to the horrors of ISIS.
- Pray that history will not repeat itself and ISIS returns with a vengeance.
- Pray for Christians who – once again – face the horrors of Islamist radicals.
