Tide Sweeps Rice and Bibles to North Koreans

By the time you read this, bottles filled with rice and medicine have washed ashore in North Korea. Wrapped around the bottles are Bibles.

One bottle of rice is worth more than a month’s salary. God’s Word is outlawed – and priceless.

Christian defectors from the cruel regime tossed hundreds of rice bottles into the waters from an island close to North Korea. They carried 40 lb. bags on trails to snow-tinged rocks above the shore.

The defectors risked their lives to escape North Korea. Now they save lives trapped in the country ranked #1 in persecuting Christians.

Christianity is considered a threat to North Korea’s cultish regime centered on dictator Kim Jong Un who is treated like a god. Anyone suspected of being a Christian is punished with imprisonment in labor camps, torture and execution.

Christian Freedom International joined and funded the rice bottle launch. We filled the bottles, wrapped the Bibles, threw them. And added paper slips with Scriptures like:

“If the Son [Jesus] sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:27

Jesus said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We are preparing for the next launch. Twice a month the tide is right to carry messages-in-a-rice-bottle to people starving for food and the Truth.
