Just One

Jerry was eight years old when he became an orphan. He lives in Nigeria, one of the most dangerous countries to be a Christian. His father was a pastor who taught him to love one another and live peaceably with Muslims.
One frightful day, Muslim rioters massacred his family. Jerry was the sole survivor. He fled, bleeding from gunshot and machete wounds.
“I was the only person who was able to escape. I believe God has a reason,” Jerry said.
Does God See?
The reports of persecution in Nigeria are horrifying and the numbers are staggering. Nearly 5,000 Christians were killed last year in brutal ways. Widows and orphans are left homeless.
But God sees each one. He has a plan for each one.
“I was on my own and crying the loss of my family,” Jerry said. With support from caring Christians, Jerry was able to graduate from university, motivated by the hope of using his experiences to help other persecuted Christians.
Jerry now cares for children who survive Islamic violence and who are sponsored by Christian Freedom International.
These children are unique. “All the children are victims,” Jerry said. “As believers, we will pass through persecution. I can tell them that God has not forgotten about you. You had a traumatic experience, but He is aware of it.”
And our sponsors are unique. For just $35 a month, sponsors can directly connect with a persecuted child and help provide tuition, daily meals, clothes, toiletries – and spiritual encouragement from experienced people like Jerry.
For a child who has survived terrible persecution, a sponsor’s love, prayers, and support can make all the difference. It can equip them for a better future and shows that God sees and is working out His plan for their life.
Your Opportunity
Over 300 persecuted children in our program region in Nigeria need more than aid. They need the love and encouragement of a person who cares that they lost so much. Children in other hostile countries, like Bangladesh and Egypt, also need sponsors.
Can you see yourself sponsoring just one child? You can change that child’s life. Your support, prayers, and encouraging letters can transform their future – and show that they are loved and cared for by the body of Christ.
Or can you “Bridge the Gap” for one or more children waiting for a sponsor? Your gift can help a persecuted child not miss a month of support for their essential needs.
And Above All . . .
Will you boldly pray to “extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one” aimed at each of these children (Ephesians 6:16)? Will you pray each one will experience God’s love through their own sponsor?
Thank you for considering helping just one child.
In Christ,
Wendy Wright, President
You Can Change the Life of a Child Living Under Persecution
“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me.” Matthew 18:5
Nigeria is a dangerous and deadly country for Christians. The massive numbers of Christians brutally persecuted by Islamists can be overwhelming.
Until you see the one. The one child that you can help.
When you sponsor a child, you can replace their despair with hope for a thriving future by providing education, food, essential items, and spiritual encouragement.
You can sponsor a child like:
Marvelous (age 9) Our parents were working on their farmland when Fulani herdsmen shot them both. Villagers rushed to help but found them dead. I have one sibling and live with my uncle who is a peasant farmer.
I want to be a nurse to care for others.
James (age 10) My parents were on their way back home from the farm when they heard our village was attacked. They rushed to the house to come and rescue us. Sadly, they were captured and killed by the attackers. We had left home before they came. I have three siblings.
I wish to be a doctor. Pray for peace and protection for us.
Ladi (age 14) My family was attacked on 24 December 2023 by Fulani herdsmen. Everyone was busy preparing to celebrate Christmas. We started hearing gunshots everywhere. The community tried to defend itself, but they were many, carrying sophisticated military-grade weapons. They overwhelmed us. Both of my parents were killed. My mother was shot to death when she was trying to hide. My father was shot and burned to death while he was trying to protect the community. I have two younger siblings and live with my uncle.
I wish to be a medical doctor and help treat the sick. Pray for my country that God will help us overcome continuous persecution of Christians. Pray that God will provide for my uncle and will bless him in everything he is doing. Pray that God will restore His peace in Nigeria.
Mafeng (age 8) Mother is a peasant farmer and hardly earns from it. Father was a farmer who was killed on his way back from the farm. He was just about to enter our house when the assailant shot him and used a machete to cut him.
I want to be a teacher to teach others. Pray for us to succeed.
“I want to thank CFI for paying my school fees and feeding me in school and giving me gifts of toiletries. I pray and hope that you can do this for more children in Jesus’ name.” Collins, age 13
“On behalf of all the parents, I want to appreciate CFI for supporting our children. May God grant you long life.” Mrs. Yakubu
“You are putting laughter instead of mourning in their mouths and in their lives. We are eternally grateful.” Dorcas Nyat, Principal, Heroes Faith Academy
